Steve Leight, PE
Steve’s career in the buildings industry began as a student collecting data in university buildings and developing as-built drawings for the University of Wisconsin. Upon graduation, he worked for a small consulting firm involved in energy conservation, indoor air quality, modeling of thermal storage systems, and building commissioning. This experience led to future opportunities with companies specialising in improving energy efficiency in existing buildings.
In the early 2000s, Steve took his existing building experience to new construction, first working for TestMarcx Associates, providing commissioning services for highly technical facilities, including casinos, hospitals, and educational laboratory buildings. Steve joined HDR in 2010, providing the same services, and began managing the US-based commissioning team in 2017.
He enjoys cycling, playing ice hockey, and supporting his daughter’s volleyball team.
“Steve brings his extensive knowledge of existing building operation and facility optimization to the new construction arena, making new buildings efficient and maintainable from the point of project turnover.”
“In addition to his expertise in energy management, Steve has considerable experience in US federal and complex health care schemes across the world”
