Battersea Power station Energy Centre
HDR | Andrew Reid is delighted to be involved with the Battersea Power station Energy Centre project for Turner and Townsend.
The site’s Energy Centre will sit ten metres beneath the new riverside park. Its construction involved the excavation of more than 150,000 cubic metres of earth, some of which was taken away using river barges, removing the need for 3,500 heavy lorry journeys on local roads.
Once operational, it will be equipped with three ten-megawatt boilers and three Combined Heat and Power (CHP) engines, each of which will produce up to two megawatts of heat and a further two megawatts of electricity.
