Data Centre Dynamics 2019 Singapore
Darren McSorley, HDR | Andrew Reid’s Regional Director in Asia Pacific, attended DCD Singapore 2019, which took place on 17–18th September. The two-day Data Centre Dynamics conference, which was hosted in Marina Bay Sands, is the region’s leading Data Centre and Cloud Infrastructure transformation event.
As one of the world’s pre-eminent Data Centre hubs, Singapore was the ideal location to host over 1,500 local and overseas senior industry attendees. With over 40 hours of thought-leadership sessions and more than 60 leading speakers, the conference offered delegates opportunities to learn, as well as share best practice and insights into how digital infrastructure will support business transformation in Asia Pacific and beyond.
A must-attend event for all those who are heavily involved in designing, building, managing and operating the full infrastructure ecosystem centred on the city-state. Darren McSorley was inspired by some of the key talking points: “DCD Singapore proves yet again that it’s a leading source of industry trends and emerging technologies in the Data Centre space, covering topics as diverse as the effects of AI in reducing operation risk and tackling the skills shortage and talent brain drain in Singapore.”
Here are some of his main takeaways:
- Some market leaders are using commissioning and other data to fuel their AI knowledge base, in order to determine risk and operational maintenance requirements.
- The importance of understanding the drive and need of a younger workforce to attract them to the Data Centre market.
- Singapore is attempting to integrate sustainable energy solutions within the ‘Red Dot’.
