Great Portland Estates (GPE) has appointed HDR | Andrew Reid as their Commissioning Verification Engineering Consultant on the rebuild of Oxford House, located on Oxford Street – one of the most sought-after retail streets worldwide. We are thrilled to be working on our second secured project with this well-established and valued client.
What started out as a refurbishment project, the development of Oxford House took a new direction when planning permission for a new-build scheme was granted in April 2018. The end result will be a high-quality, mixed-space building made up of 80,000 sq ft of offices and 41,800 sq ft of retail space. Spread out over seven floors, Oxford House will be the tallest building at the eastern end of Oxford Street, complete with a rooftop terrace with views over Soho and Westminster.
Great focus has been put on materials, facilities and energy use to ensure the development is as environmentally friendly as possible. With the overall Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) up by almost 40%, the scheme is on track to meet its goal of reducing the building’s carbon footprint
Crossrail will be opening in the area in 2020, which has created high demand for superior-quality retail spaces, which will lead to high rental yield.
Demolition of the existing building is well under way, and project completion is scheduled for the third quarter of 2021.
