Ryan McCulloch Becomes a LEED Green Associate

Congratulations to HDR | Andrew Reid’s Project Commissioning Manager, Ryan McCulloch, who has passed his Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) exam, certifying him as a LEED Green Associate.

Ryan works out of our Sydney Office, alongside Darren McSorley, who is Regional Director in Asia Pacific. We are very proud of Ryan, as this shows his dedication to HDR | Andrew Reid and our whole ethos.

Certification acknowledges that an individual has solid overall knowledge of green building practices and how to support LEED projects, which require buildings to be commissioned in accordance with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) guidelines. The whole HDR | Andrew Reid commissioning process has been built around these exact guidelines.

Becoming LEED certified has many benefits, but it essentially means that the commissioning authority can support the design, production and operation stages of a project to meet the client’s requirements for energy, water, indoor environmental quality and durability. The main aims include fewer changes needing to be made while contractors are on-site, reduced energy consumption and lower operating costs. Moreover, it helps building owners avoid running into costly problems after project completion, such as information technology equipment downtime resulting from the design or performance of cooling systems in a data centre.

The LEED certification that Ryan has completed is a core part of training at HDR | Andrew Reid, as it puts us in an ideal position to offer our clients a LEED-compliant, holistic commissioning service in the new-build, commercial fit-out and data centre sectors across the globe.
