We’re on a mission to change perceptions and raise awareness amongst young people about working in engineering, whether it’s Mechanical, Electrical or Consulting. Here at Andrew Reid & Partners we want young people from all walks of life who are better prepared for the workplace. The changes to come are dynamic in providing a new era of technology, diversity and infrastructure. Our work experience placements are a great place to start developing those skills required in a modern workplace while opening the inspiring possibilities of a STEM-related career.
2018 is the Year of Engineering a government campaign, which celebrates the world and wonder of engineering. A perfect platform to break the status quo about being an engineer and what it requires, ensuring our future generation can be part of a wider talent pool at Andrew Reid & Partners. By supporting the campaign, we are keen to motivate, inspire and drive a positive experience for young people.
Currently, some young people are missing out on the chance to make a positive difference to both their futures and to that of the planet we live on. We believe in adding value beyond engineering by committing to boost engineering across the UK. As proud employers, clients and providers, we take our values and vision very seriously and by, extending our hand towards local schools, clients and colleagues we offer a chance for young people to gain a two-week experience at Andrew Reid & Partners. By working with our local communities and internal staff we widen our talent pool and support the local schools to provide a route into engineering that’s closer to home for some of the students. While the draw into the London market is significant, we feel is it important to provide opportunities for those who live locally, and supporting the local community is part of our corporate and social responsibility which the business feels strongly about.
Our Work Experience Programme is a great way to give young people a taste for careers in our industry. Each year we take on multiple young keen students who are inspired to understand the various possibilities within an engineering company. The experience provides the young pupil with a chance to understand the various type of engineering roles and departments at Andrew Reid & Partners, with a first-hand experience we can help introduce new skills and insights that may influence their future career choice. A placement with us will contribute towards their employability through increasing knowledge, competencies and skill set as well as helping them to develop a range of transferable skills and confidence in a workplace environment.
